Nationally Known Band to Play in Downtown Lee's Summit

The Downtown Days... Streets Alive festival planning committee recently announced their headlining act to play at the festival taking place in Downtown Lee’s Summit on June 6, 7, and 8, 2008. Eve 6 will take the stage at 9:00 pm on Saturday, June 7th, for a free show in the streets of Downtown Lee’s Summit.
Eve 6 is returning to the musical world after a three year break from touring. The former RCA recording artists are best known for their smash hit “Inside Out” and graduation anthem “Here’s to the Night.” Eve 6, from La Crescenta, California, first burst onto the music scene as teenagers in 1998 with their certified platinum self-titled debut. After touring for over six years and releasing three albums the group decided to part ways in 2004. However, since then the group has decided to entertain once again and is working on a new album.
“Ever since Eve 6 has posted us as a tour stop on their website our phone has been ringing with people wanting more information,” said Gina Tominia, Assistant Director for Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street. “My favorite part is asking people where they are calling from, because quite a few are out of state, and I love hearing their excitement when I tell them the show is free. I think this band, along with all the other fun things going on at the festival will bring a lot of people to Downtown Lee’s Summit for the weekend.”
Live music is a huge part of the Downtown Days festival. With three stages full of all kinds of acts, guests are sure to find something entertaining. Other feature performances include tribute bands on Friday night, music of the decades on Saturday and jazz music on Sunday. Family friendly entertainment will also be available throughout the festival in the Kidz Zone, with performances by Radio Disney on Saturday.
Other activities during the festival include a car show, carnival, face painters, fine craft and art vendors, food vendors, Sunday brunch, beer garden and much more.
“It just feels good to have our annual summer festival back,” said Tominia. “Now that our downtown has beautiful new streetscaping we are ready to welcome back the 80,000 plus that look forward to this event year after year, and show off just how good we look. This festival has many elements of our traditional Old Tyme Days, but we have added new life to the event.”
This event is being presented by the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street in partnership with Cumulus Radio. The mission of Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street is to promote downtown as the center of commerce, culture, and community life for residents and visitors alike.
