Entertainment, Food and Fun at Downtown Days…Streets Alive! Festival

June 5, 6 & 7 in Downtown Lee’s Summit

Plan to kick off the summer during the annual Downtown Days…Streets Alive! Festival, Friday to Sunday, June 5-7, spanning six blocks in the historic Downtown Lee’s Summit central business district. Live entertainment featuring The Elders, food vendors, a carnival, Pianos on Parade, craft vendors, the KCBS-sanctioned BBQ competition and much more are part of this year’s festivities. 

Festival hours are:

Friday, June 5- Noon to 10 p.m.

Saturday, June 6- 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunday, June 7- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more than 20 years, Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street has been hosting a family-friendly festival in the heart of Downtown Lee’s Summit. Every year, the Downtown Days committee brings in new events and activities, and this year is no exception, promising a few attractions festival-goers won’t see anywhere else.

SMOKIN’ on the Summit BBQ: Celebrating its 5th year, this BBQ is a fundraiser presented by APL Financial Services, LLC and organized by the Downtown Lee’s Summit Rotary Club. The annual event is KCBS sanctioned and a Missouri State Championship event. Over 80 teams will compete for a $10,000 purse and the right to be the 2015 APL Financial Services, LLC Grand Champion of one of the Midwest’s premiere BBQ competitions.

Civil War Reenactments: Members of the Third Missouri Infantry portraying Civil War-era soldiers including displays and children’s activities.

Krazy Kidz Bungee Jump: Bungee jump trampolines catapult you into the air where you can flip or spin to your heart’s content. An exciting attraction for all ages!

Carnival: Enjoy rides, games and food; open all hours of the festival. Sunday is wrist-band day.

Pianos on Parade: Artistically-painted, playable piano on display as part of the Kansas City-wide event. The Lee’s Summit piano features artwork reflecting the Truly 150 sesquecentennial celebration for the city of Lee’s Summit by local Lee’s Summit artist, Teresa Keene.

Kids Street: Games, face painting, food and more available all weekend.

Petting Zoo & Pony Rides: Visit animals in the free petting zoo hosted by Sunset Trails Stables.

Downtown Days...Streets Alive! is the major fundraiser for Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee's Summit, and is sponsored by Amtrak/Missouri River Runner, Abundant Life Church, Billy Goat, County Beverage Company, Door to Door Organics, KCP&L, Lee’s Summit Journal, Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Tingle Flooring, University of Central Missouri Summit Center.
